When A Mother With Altzheimer’s Remembers Her Daughter

Kelly had just begun to accept that her mother was losing her memory to Altzheimer’s. The notion that she had forgotten her own daughter was extremely distressing.

On the day this video was filmed she was visiting her mother to have a little chat, which at the time was quite routing.

You can see at the beginning,  her mother doesn’t really realise who she is, and shows very little sign of recognition. Then in an amazing feat she begins to remember and says, “I love Kelly, and didn’t I name you Kelly?”. She goes on to say she doesn’t always understand exactly what she is thinking, but at this particular moment in time she’s thinking about how much she loves her daughter.

I can’t even begin to think about how amazing this felt and what a special memory it was for them both to share together regardless of how brief it was.
