Dad Gets Fatal Diagnosis While Wife Is Pregnant…So He Starts Making Videos For His Unborn Son

Steve Gleason was an NFL superstar who had it all. He had a job that most men dreamed of, and a family that loved him and cared for him.

Recently, Steve discovered something that had the potential to change his life forever. He discovered that all the strength he had both physical and mental, could be taken from him and he could no longer be able to play NFL.

At age 34, he was diagnosed with ALS.

You may have heard of ALS from the Ice Bucket Challenge. Do you remember when this concept went viral on Facebook last year?

ALS, sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a rapidly progressive, invariably fatal neurological disease that attacks the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles (muscle action we are able to control, such as those in the arms, legs, and face).

ALS causes weakness with a wide range of disabilities. Eventually, all muscles under voluntary control are affected, and individuals lose their strength and the ability to move their arms, legs, and body. Most people with ALS die from respiratory failure, usually within 3 to 5 years from the onset of symptoms. However, about 10 percent of those with ALS survive for 10 or more years.

When he and his wife discovered the terrible news that Steve has ALS, they were both in a state of shock, and complete confusion.

However, as he began to come to terms with what was going on, his reaction down the line is much more powerful. He decides that he is not going to let this diagnosis stop them from creating the family and life that they always dreamed of creating together.
